Overclocking of machines

Leon01 · Sep 27, 2026

The overclocking mechanic should be changes. It just adjust the amount of overclocking needed based on constraints like max output. Currently if i do the following: 1. Oil Extractor on PURE CRUDE OIL 2. Have overclocking on 250% 3. Set needed output to 551.25 pr min It tells me i need 0.92% of a 250% overclocked machine. Where as i think it should change the overclock to 229.xxx instead, as that is clearer to the user.

Update from the maintainer

Released in v0.19.4: the ⚙ Clock row offers "Fit N @ X%" whenever the count is fractional.

Done, in v0.19.4. Open the ⚙ on that Oil Extractor and the Clock row now shows "Fit 1 @ 229.69%": one press builds one extractor and sets the clock so it makes exactly your 551.25 per minute. It works the same on machines (2.5 Assemblers becomes 3 at 83.33%). I kept it as a button rather than doing it automatically, because the planner sizes by machine count at the clock you set, and silently moving your clock would make every number on the card shift as you edit. Thank you for the clear example, it made the right behaviour obvious.
